Valerijus Ostrovskis is a senior lead lawyer in DLA Piper’s EU Regulatory, Trade and Government Affairs team in Brussels.
Valerijus has extensive experience advising clients – leading multinational companies and foreign governments – on EU trade policy, economic and financial sanctions and export control regimes. He has advised European and international clients on compliance with EU sanctions against Iran, Syria, Russia, Libya, Sudan and other jurisdictions.
Valerijus also has in-depth knowledge and significant experience in the field of EU financial services regulation and internal market policies, and regularly represents clients in their engagement with EU institutions in legislative and policy-making procedures in these areas.
A qualified lawyer, Valerijus has a solid educational background in law and economics, with a particular focus on EU and international law, financial markets regulation and competition law. Prior to joining DLA Piper, he has gained broad political and public affairs experience as a consultant at a leading international government relations and public affairs consultancy, where he advised clients on engagement with the European Union’s institutions, industry stakeholders and international media. Valerijus also trained in major international and Lithuanian law firms and in the cabinet of the European Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union, Audit and Anti-Fraud.
He is also the President of the Lithuanian Lawyers Association in Brussels
