Mathias Dolls is senior economist and deputy head of the ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys at the ifo Institute in Munich. He is scientific coordinator of EconPol Europe – the European network for economic and fiscal policy research – which was founded in spring 2017 by the ifo Institute, along with eight renowned European research institutes. Mathias is research fellow at CESifo and IZA.
His research centres on empirical public economics, with particular reference to taxation, social insurance, governance and macroeconomic policy in the European Monetary Union. Mathias has published in academic journals such as Journal of Public Economics, Economic Policy, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, International Tax and Public Finance or Social Choice and Welfare. He has been involved in various research projects conducted on behalf of national ministries, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the European Central Bank and the OECD.
